Description
Ilam Sherkat Farsh Silk
Sherkat Farsh translates as Carpet Society and was founded over 80 years ago in Iran. This society has the character of a foundation and serves to promote and preserve the Persian art of knotting. It is the world's largest supra-regional carpet organisation, which promotes Persian knotting in many small towns and villages. Strict quality criteria distinguish Sherkat carpets. The special feature is the knotted seal (lettering: Sherkate Farsh), which is exclusively
reserved for these carpets.
The city of Ilam is a well-known Sherkat Farsh knotting site. The finest cork wool with silk is used to knot individual patterns in the finest knot density. These carpets are in no way inferior to the high-quality Isfahan carpets and in demand Persian carpets due to their rarity.
