Kashan

Description

Kashan

The provenance of Kashan is a stronghold of Persian carpet art, which developed into the centre of textile art in Persia during the Safavid dynasty (1501 to 1722). The first royal manufactory was also established here in the 16th or 17th century. The unmistakable colours and the timeless pattern have remained unchanged for centuries. Very well preserved antique Kashan carpets are collectors' carpets that still fetch top prices at auctions today.
