Nain 9la Sherkat

The small city of Nain, with a population of about 70,000, is located about 140 km east of Isfahan. Among the Nain carpets, there are mainly two quality levels, Nain 6La and Nain 9La. The number (before La) indicates the number of individual yarns that make up the warp thread. La means layer. The pile material is also high-quality virgin wool, the outlines are embellished with silk. Nain patterns are reknotted in the village of Kashmar in the northeast of Persia in the Khorasan region. Among the Nain carpets, these have the lower knot density, with a density of about 250,000 knots per square metre.
